Today, December 9, 2020, PD-MitoQUANT partner Parkinson’s UK launched their latest project- an online resource to assist laboratory-based researchers to incorporate patient and public involvement in their work. “A practical guide to patient and public involvement in lab-based research,” the web-based resource offers practical advice, top tips and a myriad of examples for involving people in basic science research. A great deal of guidance has been written about how to actively involve patients and the public in clinical research. Evidence exists demonstrating the value of this. Before this resource, there was very little PPI guidance that specifically targeted researchers who work mainly in a laboratory, with very little or no contact with people affected by the condition they are studying.
